Punisher horns in cluster
Hi Walt,
1,You say that the length of horns increase in cluster , hence their low

frequency responce will also go lower , how many punishers will we need

in a cluster so that they go down to 30hz ,
2, Can we use any other driver other than the caire in your design ,
3, How do you mount the driver , I could not understand from seeing your

plans ,
Thanks

You will never get a strong 30Hz tone of of a reasonable sized stack of Punishers. For that kind of ultra low frequency resonse you would probably build some LAB-horns instead. The stacking of horns may give you a few extra Hz down low but not a whole octave.

I did find some drivers which give you a nice response in the Punisher, I didn't try them so don't know if they will actually fit in the cabinet. 18Sound 12LW1400 seems up to the job but is limited with regards to SPL max. The Ciare driver is almost unbeatable! Such a massive powerhandling (1000W RMS) and enormous lineair x-max.

The driver fits in from the sides of the Punisher cabinet.

Best regards,

Walt

See pic; a measurement of one punisher vs 4 punishers. If your lucky you can get down to 50 Hz.

What is the path length in the punisher ,
Bill,s autotuba has a similar path and that is 7ft also it goes down to 45hz single box ... that is if I understood rightly .
Walt had said autotubas path length increases in cluster then why not in the punisher ?

There will be some effect on pathlength when you combine several horns. But this is only a very small effect for al small stack! It has to do with the shape of the wavefront out of the stack.

Walt ,
Are you thinking of designing another version of the punisher which will

be 40hz and also more driver friendly ?

Rory B ,
I think that problem is not there in the autotuba as the driver is only 100w

, also many have tested it  and found it satisfactory .
