Im trying to submit an avatar using the link instead of uploading, and it just errors saying it's not a valid picture file, but it's a .gif

It's a 14kb file, but if it's not hosted on the psw server, it should be fine right?

The avatar size limit is 6kb.

Ok. I saw yours (17.82 KB 18248 bytes)and thought if I hosted it, it could be larger.

For the first several months we had a 20kb or so limit but some over in the non sr forums were getting a bit too big so we decided to reduce the acceptable file size. The first several hundred were able to get in at the old limit and we just decided to let them stay. I just raised it to 12k, though no Flash.
