Post Count Resurrection?
« on: December 31, 2010, 11:34:48 AM »

Am I the only one who sheds a tear looking at the measly little post count numbers?

Personally, I was proud of my (now) 352 posts. Also - I would use the post count of other users as a sort of 'worthiness' rating dictating who/how much I should listen to them.

Any chance to bring those old numbers over? .....please?

...or maybe I'm missing the point.

I'd be glad to give you a few thousand of mine, which I consider prima facia evidence of me wasting too much time.

Some of us have been through resets before... post count doesn't mean anything useful one way or the other.

First, I'll say I'm not a huge fan of these forums.

Second, I'm not exactly happy with my post count of "1" now either.

Post count is a good measure of credibility, I think, and it will really hamper the forums if everyone is reset to zero.

Maybe it's good to let go of the previous post counts. It tends to make most people think a little more about the person they're replying too. In other words, not everyone with 4-5 thousand posts actually knows what they're talking about. Likewise not everyone that has but a few posts is the village idiot. This is actually a fairly small community and we all pretty much know each others capabilities anyway.

At least 5 out of 6 do. ;)

I'm not worried about post count... most of us know who's credible in our books already from the previous forums...

Just like many of the people that were already on the forums before I joined seem to have a personal tie/understanding of each other more. it will happen with the other people again.
