Dynacord Planar Wave guide subs????
« on: January 07, 2005, 07:17:45 PM »

Hello:

I was looking at the Dyncord site, and I came across their high out put subs.  The Helmholtz resonator engine portion looks like a Direct Radiator/Bass Reflex, and the planar wave guide looks like an extension of the box itself with a couple of braces inside.

Here is an excerpt from the Dynacord site.

PLANAR WAVEGUIDE TECHNOLOGY
Compared to direct radiating
bass-reflex systems, the
F18PWH produces +6 dB SPL
with the same input signal. Other
advantages include: excellent
directivity in the lower frequency range, less
excursion of the diaphragm, and an overall
expanded durability. The patented Planar
Waveguide Technology leaves all conventional
speaker concepts far behind.

More db/watt, less distortion, more directivity than a BR sub?  IF this is all true, these should be some impressive subs!!

Has anyone out there used a pair of these?  The dual 18(push pull arrangement) looks pretty impressive, and it has two EVX 180b drivers.

Why aren't these cabs available in the US?? If they are that good, I would like road test a couple of them

Coupled cavity it seems, which is a bandpass design. They dont mention sound quality. Simply not enough technical information to back it up.

Marketing claims are one thing, measurements are another!
'increased directivity down low' > how low?

I did hear a dynacord system a year ago,it was one of the best sounding, and deepest bass ive heard -loved it!

EDIT: At first I thought they were showing inside the box with the end off,but it looks like there is no end-so I dont know.

Compare it to servodrives specifications...

I have never heard them, but that design has been done before.
