RCF 18 " driver questions
« on: December 08, 2004, 02:55:59 am »

I have read that the RCF Precision L18X400 is an improved and modernized version of the highly regarded RCF 18L300? Is this true?  How would the two drivers compare side to side in a horn loaded sub such as a Martin WSX?  I have heard that the OEM driver in that box is an RCF 18L300.

How would the RCF Precision 18's compare to similar offerings from Ciare and 18 sound.  The 18 Sound 18LW1400 and the RCF precision drivers seem to have basically the same technology.

Granted I would like to use Void, Neomaxx, or Precision Devices, but these drivers are either too expensive or not readily available in the US.

I have heard that Chuck McGreggor from EAW had some input in the refining of the AEB/18 Sound 18LW1400.

How would you compare the RCF Precision 18's to JBL 2241's and 2242's

Thanks

Its different to the 18P300, much lower distortion and will need a slightly large box.  Although the Xmax rating is less for the 400 it will probably do better than the P300.  Its very similar to the 18sound 18WL1400.

I was .... Im replacing them with 18sound, they seem to last much longer before you have problems with the suspension if you drive them hard.  They are still a good driver. The early 18sound did have a few problems with the magnets falling off but they seem to have fixed that.
