audio triggering
« on: December 01, 2004, 07:29:10 pm »

 Hi All,

I'm not sure this is the right place, but some of you  might have an idea. I need to trigger the audio of a art exhibit when people either cross an electric eye or stand on a matt. The exhibit will be shown for a month, and the sound will drive the people working nearby nuts if it is left on the intire time. Any suggestions. We have a small budget, so ideas over 150$ are out of the question. Any ideas, suggestions, or links?

Use your ir to pulse an electronic drum brain.  Then, use the midi output of the drum brain to trigger a mute group on your soundboard that is plugged into the channel that your cd is operating.  Use another ir device at a location where people are exiting and have that trigger the mute back on.

You should be able to borrow a drum brain from anybody who plays an electronic kit, or check out ebay for an alesis dm4 (they should be pretty cheap these days.

Good luck.
