Bag End TA2000 or TA6000?
« on: December 01, 2004, 12:11:39 PM »

Application: FOH PA
Room size: 500 or less capacity
Music: Varied

Recently bought a pair of Bag End dual 12" sub-woofers (D12E-C) and the ELF M-1 processor. The original plan was to top those with a pair of Bag End TA6000s on poles. However, I may have a chance to get a good price on a pair of Bag End TA2000s. Any ideas on which of the two I should go with? Has anybody used either top with the D12E?

TA6000 = dual 6 1/2" woofers, 1" exit horn
TA2000 = single 12" woofer, 1" exit horn

Thanks for reading this. If this thread gets bumped to the Lounge, I'll understand, but I thought I'd start where the more experienced ears hang out.

I own 2 TA12's. They are clear, flat, time aligned, and uncolored. They go to about 70hz -3db, and I EQ them to about 60hz for DJ use without sub.

They weigh 60lbs, and because my back was damaged by a car accident, must downgrade to lighter speakers.

My rep. said that he used TA6000's and were good speakers, but must be used with sub since they only go to 95hz -3db, whereas the TA12's can be used alone. He recommended 2 TA6000's per side.

I might consider Nexo SP10'S but probably couldn't afford them at $1500 per speaker unpowered.

P.S. I am selling my BagEnd TA12's because of the 60lbs weight.

Hope this helps some.
