Gathering data on bass/midbass horns -- whats useful?
« on: November 29, 2004, 12:14:52 PM »

should ground plane measurements be done further back than 1M? - is this too close in cases?  - how about measurements with mic above ground-plane?  - should off-axis plots be accumulated say in 15 degree increments?

how about distortion? - would it be done at 1W, raised 10dB, etc. up to a safe point? - perhaps 10% of rms rating? (and below expected xmax)

music with 'some' dynamic contrast may not emulate sine-conditions (& heating effect)

should distortion be examined to 1/2 octave below the design's nominal cutoff (horn flare/ 1/4 wave)

is two tone modulation testing useful - or a bit tricky in subs?

how about waterfall plots?

what matters?,

TIA, Freddy

FWIW a couple plots of my FH1 http://home.earthlink.net/~buddhaboy2/FH1L
