Saw Van Halen the other night...and a question
« on: November 12, 2004, 01:09:56 PM »

The boys rocked. But the sound was disappointing. Show was at Copps in Hamilton ON. There was distorted midrange throughout the evening.
Question for Eddie freaks. What is with that crazy cable coming from his guitars? It's so huge and heavy that he has to have an arm sticking out a foot from his guitar to strain relief the thing. And the cable gets hung up on everything on stage. He was using the same deal when I saw then a few years back too.
Just wondering.

Here's some pics of what he's talking about for those that haven't experienced VH live.

As to what it is, and why, I haven't a clue . . .

On the sunburst guitar I see what looks a great deal like the pickup for a Roland guitar synth setup.

The cable for that uses a 13 pin DIN connector at both ends and the cable has been a tripping hazard for a couple of guitarists in bands I've worked for.

Just my guess anyway.

Cheers,
