Help me find a switch...
« on: October 30, 2004, 04:45:22 pm »

I need a box that will allow me to select source material to feed to an amp.  Ideally I'd like to have a switch that would select A, B or A+B.  The sources would be stereo, output would be stereo.  Application is sending music files from a PC to a remotely-located amp, and the client doesn't want to crawl around behind the PC every time to switch the wires.  All ins and out will terminate in 1/8" TRS, but that coudl be handled with adapters if necessary.

If this isn't available commercially, it doesn't seem too hard to build--would you use a 2-pole and switch L & R hots?

Depending on your buget you have a few options.

Samson C-control @ $99.00 50&brandID=2

Mackie Big know @ $300.00

Coleman Audio LS3 @ $120.00

Furman SRM-80A @ $540.00

Hope this helps

If you don't need level control, just build it yourself with RadioShack parts.  You'll need to put a resistor in series with each source leg so that when you select A+B you are not connecting the 2 sources directly together.  I'd use 1k Ohms, but anything above a couple hundred will likely work.
