Engineer management
« on: October 02, 2004, 07:03:45 PM »

I was wondering if any of you guys have heard of FOH and moinitor engineers having a manager represent them? I think I had read somewhere that it may be a new trend that could catch on...musicians and bands have them, shouldn't engineers?

Just wondered what you guys thought.

Hmm.... give somebody a chance to rake off some of your miniscule earnings?

Interestingly enough, the recently-posted new Mixerman diary entries discuss this a little bit.

I believe Alan Parsons (Pink Floyd, etc.) has one but I'm not sure who it is.

I think you will find that this manager is the same manager that represents Alan's own musical endeavors, The Alan Parsons Project:
I Robot,
Pyramids,
Turn of a friendly card
Tales of Mystery and Imagination - Edgar Allan Poe

I am sure there was another but the name presently escapes me.

As far as a manager for sound people? There are many large suppliers of crew that already act in this role (down under) and they generally get more than their 20% extra for their incumbents.
