Power Pod Audio 10inch Subwoofer
« on: August 07, 2004, 04:50:29 AM »

One more amazing thing about my visit to Power Pod Audio this past week.

The 10 inch sub.  A single 10" woofer, cabinet I heard was less than half the size of my Yorkville es700p(dual 10s and dual 350 watt amps).  Just as deep but maybe 40% the width.

Almost as heavy though.  This cabinet is made of 1/2 inch to combat the "walking effect" small subs can have when driven on certain surfaces.

Goes down to 26hz.  Think the ext. power amp was feeding 1200 watts into it.

The grin that came to my face when they demo'd this little sub!
Amazing!

If they had not already been so busy that day, I would have asked to take the cabinet outside and hear how it carried in the open.
I think it would do nicely.

Weight was the only issue I had with it.  Pop out casters, rubber strips and velcro, or anything to nail it to the floor.. as long as you could lighten the total cabinet weight.

I immediately saw 4 or 5 uses for such a cabinet.
Sub for a studio, casino pub/lounge, instal. in home/church/school/etc., and to pair two of those subs with pole cups and a pair of 8.1 monitors on top would make a perfect short/medium throw compact PA system.

AFAIK, these are still in the design phase.  One active model was built and installed/sold and this passive model is still being tweaked.

Randy state that these would be active but I did not catch the wattage.

I really want to take a pair of these out and see how they stack up against my Elite Yorkie.

Keep everyone posted-
