need person in SLC Utah area to help me out
« on: July 23, 2004, 10:27:57 AM »

Hi,
I hope this doesn't violate the rules of the board. I didn't think this qualified as a subcontractor inquiry..

I am purchasing a Ramsa 840 in the Salt Lake City Utah area and I was inquiring to see if there was anyone in the area that could go to the site and look/test the board for functionality. I also am wondering if it's a monitor desk version 840F or not. The guy is selling 2 of them and i'm assuming that one is a monitor and one is a FOH desk as they came out of the same place.
please contact me off list at jburckhalter@ronco.net if anyone is available in that area and what you would charge me to do so.

Thank you!
John

There are several of us here on the LAB from SLC.

If the board is coming from where I think it is, you're in luck-  it's old, but well taken care of.
The 840s that were around town in the 1990s were used for TONS of regional stuff, as well as local festivals, etc.
(disclaimer: I've not seen an 840 in SLC in 4 years-  everyone uses Series 5s now...)

My issue is that I may not have time for a couple of weeks to go look at it...  but if you can wait until after 8/8- maybe.  Other guys are lurking here, too...  (Jack-  where are you?)

Thanks for the quick reply,
I'm not sure where they got this board- it was an estate buyout i'm told.
Thanks for the offer, but unfortunately I can't wait that long. I'm getting ready to send the check out monday, so I probably have a week max for someone to stop by there.

While we're on the subject of 840 boards, if this turns out to not be an "F" model board (monitor version) is the standard 840 capable of monitor duty or do I have to do major mods to it to make it happen? There is little to no info on the different models and variations that apply.
For what I'm getting this board for I can't go wrong. I tapped out my budget by buying an MH3 soundcraft 48ch and I need something that meets most riders that's accepted even though its older.

Thanks again!
John

I just got one of these here in SLC about a month or two ago.  Old girl, but great sounding board.  If all else fails, let me know and I'll take a peak at these for you.
