"message read" flagging bug
« on: July 10, 2004, 12:00:13 PM »

Ernie,

When I use "Unread Messages" in the SR Forum Home page (clicking "more unread messages" until there are no more) all unread messages in the MARSH and R/E/P forums are also flagged as read.  Confused

Is this a known bug? Can you help with this?

Thanks,
Vince

I think this may have to do with how the unread messages are tracked in your profile. I'll have to test it. You could register with a different username in the other forums if you want, then this effect wouldn't occur because you would be three different users.

That's the expected behavior of the forums as they all share common user data.  It's really all one forum, it's just on three separate forum pages.  All the user info is identical.

Understood, but more PITA than it sounds. You can't register more than one login with the same email address. I only use one address, and I'm not a fan of entering junk data ...

Thanks,

Yeah Buddy....    Cool

I looked at splitting off the stats for each forum and it's a non trivial task.  At the next major upgrade we may look at a way around that but it will be quite the undertaking.

I know it's a hassle but unfortunately I can't do anything about it right away.

I know, I know. Life's ALL more PITA than it sounds. Very Happy That's what you get for interacting with the public.

It's good to see you back on the LAB, the place works a lot better when you're around.

Peace,
