Pyros (XLFX?)
« on: May 31, 2004, 03:13:45 pm »

Does anyone know what happened to pyrotechnics company XLFX? They had a stand at PLASA a few years ago but haven’t seen anything of them since, are they still in business?

Anyone have any experience of their controllers? We’re about to replace our controller, which went AWOL last year and were looking at alternatives to Le Maitre.

Well, they've got a website - - but it seems to be very sparse on details, and implies they're not yet producing pyros, so I guess the same would apply to their controllers. I tried some searches and could find no retailers...

Have not heard of XLFX but there is always as alternatives:
Pyrotek Special Effects (Pyro Mfr..)

and possibly: (Don't know if they produce such gear but they might be able to make it on the other hand.)

ACT Lighting Systems (Cable, Distro, Control Mfr..)
Artistic Design Licence (Controller Mfr.)
Altinex, Inc. (Interface, Controller & Cable Mfr..)
Applied Electronics (Dimmer/Control Mfr..)
Infinity Visions (Controller Mfgr.)
Intelligent Control Devices (AC Distro, Dimmer, Hoist Cont. , Servo Motion Systems, multi-media controllers etc. , [Scrollers, Moving Lights - Morpheus] Mfr..)
Show Control (Show Controller Mfr.)
Show Distribution/Prolyte  (Truss, Hoist & Controller Mfgr.)

Show Control (Show Controller Mfr.)

Zircon Designs/Show Control (Production Company & Book)

Yes, I know something about them - I know both partners quite well. We ( ) Beta tested the control equipment for them in our Pantomime this year. It's a nice system. They have a distributor appointed in the SE England:

and I believe the hardware is now orderable. There has been some delay on the pyro production (can't go into details) but hopefully they will be available soon. In the meantime, Le Maitre products are fully compatible.
