One suggestion one question

How about at the top of the page a link to the advertisers on the LAB. I will see an ad flash by and before I can click on it its gone or I already clicked to back button and then notice the ad and then its gone. It would be great to not only have a link to who is advertising on the LAB but also be able to see their ads.

The question – I have http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/ book marked in my favorites and I find that every once in a while when coming to this site that it seems to have forgotten who I am. Even when I was on this site the previous day. I don’t log off so it shouldn’t be that. Is it that my cookie has expired? If it is expiring, is there some way to make it not expire? Or is it just the nature of the beast or am I doing something wrong. I am using IE6.

The advertiser directory is something that has been discussed before.  There is static or more or less permanent banner space available and having all sponsors visable from a single page may reduce the value of the higher impression or "page sponsor"  banners and serve to reduce revenue.  Just keep an eye out and the sponsor banner you were interested in will repeat and you can click on it them.

I've purposely set the cookies to expire over predetermined intervals as it helps with security and keeping the session database at a resonable size.  At Yahoo, for example, I'm asked for  a password a few times a session it seems.  At this time I have no plans to implement a perpetuatual cookie.  Your browser should retain your user info making logging back in basically a single click operation.

Agreed, you don't want to diminish the value of the standard presentation, but it's the nature of the Internet to want everything when we want it... namely right now.

I suspect a separate page of active advertisers with links to ads in rotation would probably not diminish the value of regular advertising and if anything make that advertising more valuable to the advertisers if they can capture more click throughs and reduce friction between them and potential customers.

Of course it's easy for us to sit here and suggest work for you to do. Sorry 'bout that Very Happy .

If advertiser A pays for 100,000 impressions, and advertiser B pays for 20,000 impressions and there is always a static page with the banner displayed, what is the incentive for anyone to buy more than the minimum number of impressions if the ad will always be on a pre determined page?

Likewise, if someone chooses priority placement of sponsor placement at a premium, what incentive do they have when all advertisers are displayed on a single pre defined page?
