OK, while you are here...If you are. I've got an idea (probably not easy to implement though.) How about a partially collapsed view. (Bear with me, I have an idea in mind, explaining it might be a bit more difficult.) Actually two ideas. One would be to have only topics with unread messages on page one of each forum. (Kind of a modified version of showing only new messages.) The other one (and I suspect this one would be much more difficult) would be to collapse the already read messages in each topic so that you would see something like:

+A different view    (you have read these messages-press + to view)
  A different view  
    A different view

Make sense?

Well, yes, I see your logic, but I think this would require substantial re-engineering of the software to achieve. Maybe Dave will have a take on this, but it's not something I see happening anytime soon, if at all.
