how to remove smilies?
« on: April 09, 2004, 12:04:23 PM »

I have been browsing around and trying to remove the smilies from other peoples messages.  The faq states that i have to check a "disable smilies" box but i can't seem to find it. Is it even possible to make the smilies disappear from the messages when i view them?

Timoteus,
The box you are looking for is located in your personal profile settings. Just click on the profile button at the top of the page and you will find the box down near the bottom. Don't forget to "update" your profile when you are finished. It will want your password befor it will take effect.

I have tried to look at the profiles page but I can't seem to find the box. Either I'm missing something or I'm starting to loose my eyesight ;)

I have attached a picture of the profiles page i see.

Looking into the smilies issue, but so far I've only found how to turn smilies off in a post you're making ("Disable smilies in this message") or turn them off universally. Have to look further....

I don't have any personal problems with the graphical smilies. I just don't like them when I'm reading something deeply technical. I find it distracts too much.  It makes the discussion seem more "relaxed".

Maybe I'm too old school for these new forums ;) *everything* was better when I first entered the comp world. And I'm only 16......
