Where to buy ferro fluid?
« on: October 11, 2011, 12:01:08 PM »

I got confirmation from Yorkville that the HF drivers in the NX25P are misrepresented in the spec sheet (1.4" Alum).  It is actually a 1" Mylar.
When I told him about this brown goo that was in the gap, his reply was..."Please tell me you didn't clean it out."
Well what is done is done and now I need to replace it.

Where can I get it?  I have seen hobby kits that are for experimenting, but don't know if it is suitable.

Thanks,
David

Call or email Yorkville's parts department.  The should have a kit of diaphragm, pre-measured ferro fluid and instructions for replacement.

If that absolutely falls through, contact Charlie Tappa at Pro Sound Service in Braintree, MA.

I talked to yorkville in NY and Canada.  Neither said they had it and neither gave a recommendation on where to get it.  Just that I needed to replace it.  The diaphrams didn't come with any or instructions for that matter.

Shoot an email off to Charlie.  He and the techs at ProSound Service will help you.

Except for that part about keeping hundreds of spam registrations a day away, and only inconveniencing you for your first 2 posts. Sorry to put you out so much.

If you can't get it from Yorkville, try hitting up one of your local Peavey dealers. Their 44xt horn uses ferro fluid and Peavey has always had great customer service, as far as I'm concerned, with Peavey parts. Be careful though, that stuff is corrosive..

Charlie and Pro Sound couldn't help.  Neither could ReconeKits.

Jeff, I had done a search and found some sources, but as said in the OP, wasn't sure if what I found was usable for my application.  I had not thought of Parts Express and it didn't come up in the first 3 pages on google or bing, but they do have it.  Thanks.
