M7CL compressor/gate "KEY-IN Source input"
« on: October 10, 2011, 04:30:59 PM »

Hello guys, can someone explain to me why the "KEY-IN Input Source" is wrong  when:
a-when you save in the  compressors and gates library  compressors and gates
b-when you save in the the channel library
c-when the channel is paired with another
d-when you copy the "channel" and paste it into another
The same thing happens for ST and Pan, if I remember correctly
After all the firmware updates(3.xxx) that Yamaha have been made there is still a bugs?or am I doing something wrong?

Am I doing something wrong?

No, that's how it's supposed to work. Parameters are stored in library/copy actions... but not patching which is what Key-In really is. I know what you mean that it can be mildly annoying, but in most cases you do not want the Key-In to be changed by a preset/copy/link action.

Take the example of a compressor - you might save a vocal preset and use it on all vocal channels. But just because you created the preset for channel 12 doesn't mean 13-16 should key off of 12.

Correct also with PAN - it is one of few parameters that ignore LINK. Mainly because in channel linking, you're usually doing stereo pairs panned hard Left and hard Right respectively, so locking them together would be unwanted in most situations.

So if it's any consolation, you're not crazy; that's just how it works.
