Qsc PLX vs Crown Xti
« on: October 17, 2011, 04:57:20 PM »

I bought 8 Qsc plx 2402 in 2002, used them for 8 years with no problems.
They where getting old, so in 2010 i sold them.

I bought 8 new Crown Xti 2000 amps. Crown has a great dealer in Norway, so I wonted to buy something from them. They have been in and out from service and i always have to carry one spare.Amp channel 2, no sound. Wont switch on. Switches of during show.Display black. Channel 1 12 db lower etc etc.

I can't use them any more and I have to give them away, and buy some new

Is the new xti 2002 amp any better, or should i go back and buy the new qsc plx amp.

Or do I have to buy Lab 6000Q, or something?

I use the amps on d&b max wedges, HK CT 112, Dynacord M12.

I use all QSC PLX amps (2502's, 3402's & 3602's).  From my observation, it seems like the more bells & whistles that crown puts in their amps, the quality drops.  The only issue with the PLX's is they need a good constant source of electrical current.

How big an amp do you need?
For my smaller gigs I am using PLX1804s. Just a little less power than the PLX3402s I use for bigger gigs but way smaller and lighter!!
I can carry the monitor amp rack with 2 1804s in it with one hand.
