Is there a way to put a limiter type of compression on each Aviom out channel, that would prevent a signal from going past a certain threshold?

Not without effecting either the input channel dynamics, or the mix channel dynamics. There are no processors on output ports except delay.

If you were using an Aviom input box instead of the card you could put a limiter between the console direct or mix out and the Aviom input. You cannot do that with the card.

You could run every channel through a mix and then compress each mix.  But then you would be out of mixes.  What are you trying to accomplish by doing this?

The main purpose would be to protect our ears from crazy peaks that have occasionally happened due to a musician's hot signal, or the sound engineer's mishap with the knobs. This is not a recurring problem for us, but it has happened before.
