Use this thread for followup news.  No speculation, no photo analysis, etc.

IOW, news only.

I had read this earlier, but didn't think much about it, till one of David's comments got me thinking.

The "plug" that joins the left and right skin had come off in a previous high wind situation. They're studying to see if that had anything to do with the catastrophic failure that followed.

Doug, even posting this news *feels* dangerously close to speculation, so delete it if you feel it's inappropriate, or tack it on the end of the previous thread if it seems pertinent.

It is Fox News after all. ;-)

Ran across this story on wthr.com which I've been following for news. It confirms some stories of several crew up in the roof and is about one that rode the roof down.  I've got to say something positive of this whole tragedy and that is of all the people that stepped up to the plate that night.  They deserve a big thanks!   The story of the 3 year old girl and all the people involved in getting her out and to the hospital is particularly inspiring.  And lifting the roof off of people was pretty amazing.  I'd hate to think what that weighed.

NOTE:  I can't get an exact link to the story, it only takes you to the title page.  Right now it's on page 12 of the videos, is titled Concert Stagehands and is 2:37 long.  It will move up the page count  at time passes.

Link Updated....Thanks John!

Looks like the lawsuits have begun, for monetary damages and to preserve the site for evidence from the state's investigation.

But for now, the initial lawsuits seek damages against a laundry list of companies involved in the concert -- Mid-America Sound Corp. of Greenfield, which owns the stage rigging structure; Live 360 Group, the show's Indianapolis-based booker; and Live Nation Entertainment, owner of Ticketmaster.

Allen is seeking $50 million for VanDam's estate and $10 million plus punitive damages for Urschel.

The VanDam lawsuit so far names the state and the Indiana State Fair Commission only in asking a LaPorte County judge to issue a temporary restraining order preserving the site and other potential evidence.

The state's consultants plan to begin sifting through the mess of metal and equipment next week, said Scott Nacheman, a vice president from Thornton Tomasetti, a forensic engineering company hired by the Fair Commission this week.

A LaPorte Circuit Court judge set a hearing on the matter for Tuesday.
