Why SMF?
« on: December 27, 2010, 06:37:40 PM »

Still curious as to what the reasoning is behind choosing SMF?

It'd take a lot of work to get SMF even up to the level of FUDForum, and there is so much better software out there that would far out-perform FUD and is still very inexpensive.

You should really consider this carefully before you get too far into it and realize that users are unhappy and it can't be fixed.

For example, how are you going to fix:
Getting threaded Mode?
New post tagging?
Preview of attachments?
Inline attachments?
Auto-sizing of pictures?

These are just the tip of the iceberg of possible limitations of SMF. There's also very little support for the product and very few MODs or community support.

Seems very strange but of course I don't know the whole story.
