First time active setup advice/tips
« on: July 12, 2011, 12:29:09 am »

Hi Folks,

I have 2 PRX612m's and 1 VRX918sp.

Also I would like to incorporate a DMX driverack 260.

I am interested in the crossover point for the sub and any other tips or tricks anyone may have to get me started in the right direction.

This PA is for a small band that plays dance music.
So we like a little THUMP! 8)

Thanks for any input

I find it a bit strange that you went with a VRX for PRX tops, but that might just be me.

I don't think you really have the setup to warrant a 260. I would snag a PA+ or similar.

You will want to crossover rather high, since most of your horsepower will be from the VRX. Do you have any other specific questions?

I forgot to mention I'll be using 1 0r 2 PRX512m's full range for sides.

I already had the DR260 from another setup.

Specifically I would like to get opinion on crossover point and slope type for a tight bottom. Synth Bass&Drums 909 808 etc.

First of all, as I forgot to mention, set your display name to your real name before the mods lock the thread.

As for the crossover point, why not get in touch with JBL about this? If your using a driverack, their may be a program for your situation. There is no general crossover point and slope that will give you a "tight bottom" (and honestly, that sounds like a personal problem to me  :P). It will depend upon the speakers, eq settings, program material, etc.
