Very well put.

Considering the technology of the mid to late 60's, I don't know who had the bigger cajhones. The theorists and mathamaticians that said they could put a man on the moon, or the astronauts that believed in them.
Quite a bunch of heroes, if you ask me.

The version I'm familiar with is from Sir Isaac Newton: "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" in reference to the importance of all the prior work done by various mathematicians/physicists that gave him the foundations for developing his laws of motion etc.
HTH,
David.

I think that pretty well sums it up.
Thanks for the info. Years down the road, I might even remembr it ! (or maybe not. I am NOT one of the giants in the grand scheme of things)

The Newton quote is attributable to John of Salisbury, back in the 12th century.

And in many respects, we all get to benefit from the lift up we get from giants.  In our industry, some of those giants are fairly recent, others go back much further.  I'm still re-reading and digesting Alton Everest's "Master Handbook of Acoustics"; then working on a genuine understanding of Bob McCarthy's "Sound Systems: Design & Optimization."

It's a great time to be in our industry.

Well, there we go. I guess I should have dug a little deeper into it before posting, I had no idea about that.
Thanks for continuing my education,
David.
