SSDs also have the advantage of being damn-near impervious to shock/drop damage which may be beneficial if the pc is doing a lot of travelling. Most are direct, drop-in replacement for a 2.5" laptop-sized hard drive.

These guys http://www.belkin.com/kvm/console/single-rail.aspx by Belkin are cheap and work. We have one with a 16 port KVM built into it in our server room. The build quality isn't incredible, but it's great bang for your buck.

If you did want to look at the Mac Mini option, we just bought a few of these http://mk1manufacturing.com/www.mk1manufacturing.com/MMR-2G-2URS_%28Rack_Slide%29.html to mount them in.
