01v96v2+Behringer ADA800......
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:33:51 PM »

Hey guys,

A quick question, i'm using 2 Behringer ADA800 with a Yamaha 01v96v2 and sometimes i use the outputs of the ada, but for some reason (i think is the converter between the digital to analog converter) the outputs on the ada's are very low comparing with the regular xlr outputs or the omni ones.  What can i do so i can match the same output on the ada's? Maybe there is a setting that i don't notice yet and u guys can help me?

Thanks from the sunny and very humid Chicago!!!   :P

There isn't anything you can do. The maximum output of the 01v96 at 0dBfs is +24dBu, so that what used to be nominal "0Vu" in the analog world (+4dBu) is -20dBfs on the Yamaha. The Behringer ADA8000 has a maximum level at 0dBfs of +16dBu, so it will always be 8dB down from the Yamaha outs.

Some Yamaha consoles have output port attenuation, but I do not think the 01v96 is one of them. You are stuck with the 8dB difference. Assign your output ports with this in mind, so that the devices that need the most drive level come from the omni outs, and the more sensitive devices that don't need as much drive come from the ADA8000 outs.

What about this?

That will let you attenuate the aux sends, which will be the same as turning the fader down. I would put mains and recording, and other PA feeds on the omni outs and put all the auxes on the ADA8000. All the auxes will match each other in level, but will be down from the PA, which is a whole different system anyway.

Thanks!
Hi Oscar,
You can attenuate any OMNI output on the 01v96 by:
1. Press "DIO/Setup" button
2. Scrolling through the pages until you reach the "OUTPORT ATT" page

You can attenuate in 1 dB steps up to 9 dB.

It's where i point to Mac, right?
So can i increase it in there?

Thanks

No. It is an output port attenuator. There is no way to turn anything up, but you can turn down the omni outs so they match the ADA8000 outs. According to the specs that should be 8dB, but listen to make sure.

If you attenuate the omni outs by 8dB, at an output meter reading of -12dBfs you should have an output level of +4dBu from both the omni outs and theADA8000 outs, which in the old analog days equated to "0Vu".
