Who is your insurance carrier?
« on: January 18, 2011, 02:30:15 PM »

Well my insurance carrier notified me that after 10 years of my premiums they are no longer comfortale insuring me for live sound jobs. If I were to drop live sound and only be a music store who sells, installs, and rents to customers for their own use they would keep me but the fact that I go out and set up and run apparently suddenly gives them the heebie jeebies. They've told me they will no longer insure me after April 14th. Any suggestions on what insurers cater more towards our profession? Insurance for my security company is through a special carrier that only insures security companies. Are there any insurers like that our there for production companies?

I am using EMC Insurance, sold through a local broker. They provide liability only.  No claims with them, so I can't say anything regarding service.  I did have to call several brokers to find one that handled small operators.

Good luck.

I've had normal inventory, business liability, and incident insurance plus an additional 1 million dollar onsite liability policy with this company for years. Only time I've filed a claim was after hurricane Katrina.

I use Erie Insurance - with the Englert group out of Northampton PA. They have been quite accommodating with me.

Yes. Joe is excellent.

If he can't cover you, I've also used the Arts & Entertainment Insurance Company. http://www.aeinsurance.com/
