What are you using and pros and cons of the transmitters? Also interested in finding out about what you guys are using for your outdoor shows.

I've been told W-DMX is the way to go but I've seen Elation have one.

W-DMX and Elation are the same technology and are compatible with each other. I have a handful of each type of transmitter and receiver of the W-DMX variety and have yet to be disappointed. I also have some of the new G4 stuff in an install and it's been rock solid with great results.

Indeed, Wireless Solution W-DMX has become the defacto standard, because they provide the underlying technology used by many vendors.

Other leading technology providers are:
LumenRadio
City Theatrical
RC4 Wireless

I'm the product designer at RC4.  Naturally, I think our product is pretty good. 

I also know that all of these brands/products are good quality. <MOD EDIT>  Finding the best fit for what you specifically do will require digging into the pros and cons of each product.

If I were you, I would contact tech support for each brand you would consider, and ask them your toughest questions.  Then make up your mind.
