About 4 months ago my Neurologist introduced me to a new painkiller to replace Vicodin.
I have been using Vicodin to stifle flare ups for 4 years, and I was tired of feeling like a zombie.
The doctor introduced me to a product called Nucynta.
While it still contains an opiod ...mu-opiod to be exact, it is backed up with an SNRI.
This seems to do the trick so much better than vicodin could.
After adjusting to the medicine for about a week I can notice big improvement in cognitive thought, balance, and hearing.
If you're on long term pain care, as most of us beat up roadies are ...I would suggest looking into this as a vicodin replacement.

Thanks for the information Tom. I am on Tramadol and Lyrica for back pain and leg pain/mobility issues. Are you on the Nucvnta for disc and nerve related pain or for muscle pain? I have been holding off on the oxy and vicodin stuff as long as possible, due to the "fuzzy thoughts" bit of the side effects. Glad to hear things are working out for you!

Heriated L4 and L5, sciatica on both legs.
RSD left hand/wrist.
Before Nucyanta, I had 750mg Vicodin every 6 hours to control pain.
I take 50 mg of Nucyanta once, or twice a day and it turns the constant pain into something more tolerable.
The first few days it put me to sleep, when I built a tolerance I'm more mobile, and don't have that nodding off vicodin confusion.
