Modelling Labsub in HornResp
« on: May 27, 2011, 05:37:28 PM »

Has anybody ever tried to model the LabSub in HornResp? I'm interested in exploring the relationship between the impedance curves and the number of adjacent cabinets, and I'm not confident that I can come up with the figures to model it accurately on my own. If somebody has done it and can supply a screenshot of the numbers, that'd be very helpful.

Thanks,
Chris

I recall seeing a Hornresp sim of the Lab Sub somewhere on the DIYaudio Sub forum, but a quick search did not lead me to it.
Silas Pradetto had done actual impedance measurements towards the end of the old Lab, posted in the Sub forum.

The impedance curve positions, like the frequency response curve, lower slightly in multiples.

Someone sent me a Labsub HR file log ago. I don't know how accurate it is but it seems to be close. I don't have it on this pc though. If I remember I will post it.

Hi Chris,
According to one post in a large modelling thread on Speakerplans, here's the LABSub:

s1=540
s2=700
con=20
s3=769
exp=32
s4=2580
exp=150
s5=5800
exp=79
vrc=34
lrc=15
fr=0
tal=0
atc=1013
vtc=20600

(original thread: http://forum.speakerplans.com/database-simulation_topic16974.html )

There's also another modelling archive referred to which I haven't checked out here: http://hornrespdb.com/

HTH,
David.

I plugged the values into hornresp, and it looks like a pretty good match between the theoretical curves and the actual curves. Actual curves here: http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/t/64185/0/

Here are the attachments, in order--
The parameters as shown in Hornresp
The impedance curve from Hornresp
The response curve for one on the ground

Thanks to all who helped!
