S/PDIF and 2 track IN
« on: January 16, 2011, 10:58:12 AM »

Hi,

I have a LS9-32 and a M-Audio Profire Lightbridge. I wish to connect the S/PDIF out of the M-Audio into the 2 track IN of the LS9. Which cable should I use? S/PDIF to S/PDIF? I saw some cables from Monster, some saying RCA to RCA and some saying Digital Coaxial to DIgital Coaxial, what's the diference?

Hi Airton,

Interesting read on RCA connectors for digital audio:
 http://www.bluejeanscable.com/articles/75ohmrca.htm

Cable choices:

I have used el-cheapo audio cables/connectors and had it work.
But the first time it didn't, I went out and bought the good stuff.

I suggest you clock off the 01V96.
This would mean returning S/PDIF or ADAT to the Lightbridge.

Good health,  Weogo

Thanks, but it didn't answer my question.

Basically, I want to know if S/PDIF and 2 Track In/Out are the same thing and/or use the same rca plug.

Thanks, can you tell me where to find a 2 track cable? I never found one, only S/PDIF.

The 2 track digital in and the 2 track digital out on an LS9 is SPDIF. Ideally you would use 75Ω coax with RCA connectors, but for short runs the RCA cable you get at Radio Shack is probably fine.

What do you mean short runs. 6 fts is enough to record without problems?
