If a long thread will end up having qoutes of every post up until then - what's the point of qoutes in the first place?

What this software really needs is a spell checker!

Geoff, I can't spot my mistake, could you point it out?

The "o" and "u" are transposed, twice, in your original message.  I couldn't put my finger on what was odd about it right away, which is why a spell checker would be useful for me.

My head hurts! I too agree that forced quotes are silly, I've begun the habit of editing then out.
 
If I have to make a reference clear I always will copy and paste the relevant part in italics. Your forced quotes just clutter up the responses and make reading harder.

If I have to make a reference clear I always will copy and paste the relevant part in italics.

It takes a couple of seconds to edit the quote to just the part you are replying to, and it leaves it tagged with the quoted poster's name for clarity.
