intelligent lighting
« on: April 24, 2011, 01:06:23 am »

I everyone. I'm a sound guy but do have a par64 rig we use about 3 or 4 times a year. Needless to say I don't know much about light thingies. A high school has asked me to ask around to get recommendations for 2 intelligent lighting fixtures for a 500 seat theater. They want something that will do spots, gobos, colors and small washes. They are using a lighting program on a laptop called I think, "Horizon" that drives a DMX converter then that drives another converter I believe for some older Century Strand Dimmers. I guess the DMX could be split before the second converter. Budget is about 3k. Someone help an old sound guy out.
Thanks in advance

A pair of Elation DesignSpot 250's will probably do you just fine. They are a great hybrid spot/wash fixture that fits into your budget. How great the wash aspect works all depends on where they are rigged and how large the actual stage is of course.

note: I'm an Elation dealer.

I agree. The elation design spot is a solid fixture that works well in alot of situations. And its at a good price for what you get.
