Phoenix plug part numbers
« on: April 22, 2011, 02:33:16 PM »

I'm trying to track down part numbers for the various phoenix plugs DSP manufacturers use.  I think this would be good information to have.  So here's the list, if you have the part number fill it in.

Biamp - Audia/Nexia:   3-Pole Green = 1776168, 3-Pole Black = 1776207, 3-Pole Orange =  1976010, 5-Pole Black =  1776197
BSS - Soundweb London:   6-Pole Orange = ?, 12-Pole Orange = ???
Media Matrix - Nion:   12-Pole Black = ???
Media Matrix - X-Frame:   3-Pole Black = ???
Rane - RPM88/RPM44/RPM22 et.al.:  3-Pole Green = 1776168, 5-Pole Green = 1757048 or 1776142
Symetrix - SymNet:   3-Pole Green = ???
Symetrix - Jupiter:   12-pole Green = ???

Aaron,

I believe that Euroblock or Phoenix connector come in two common pitches or spacings, 5mm and 5.08mm.  They're close enough that you can typically use either for 3 and 4 position connectors but when you get to 8 and 12 position connectors they are not interchangeable.  So you probably want to make sure that any information is the actual part used by the manufacturer or something somebody has verified works.

I was recently thinking about doing something like this for Shure and Lectrosonics connectors.
So far I've found that there is a strain relief 3 pin for Shure automixer (SCM810) that Hosa sells - model phx3f (or phx300f).  This piece looks like it might take care of the breaking wire issue that I often see with the Shure SCM810 mobile racks.  The wires seems to either break at the phoenix or at the xlr jack and I end up soldering them back while testing table mics just before a show.
Lectrosonics has some plugs shown on the accessories index at their site.

In theory, theory and practice should be the same. In practice, they are not.

Yeah, I'm aware of the pitch spacing.  Thus the reason why I'd like to have a database for all the different types.

I've added the Biamp 3-pole black, orange and 5-pole black to the the list.  I do know that Biamp and Rane use the 5.08mm spacing.  Can anyone else confirm Media Matrix and Symetrix?  Also, if anyone would want to add other Manufacturer's models that would be great.

If someone wanted to cross reference further. I did a broad search on DigiKey for some of these standard terminal block plugs that have been discussed above.  Looks like they have close to 6000 matches.  My search criteria is here:
http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?pv1280=6&pv1280=2&FV=fff40016%2Cfff803be%2C1640056%2C1640085%2C4780037%2C4780056%2C9340018%2C934002d%2C9340030%2C9340031%2C9340033%2Ce7c0002&mnonly=0&newproducts=0&ColumnSort=0&page=1&quantity=0&ptm=0&fid=0&pageSize=500
Prices are mostly in line with the individual pro-audio mfgs, but just incase you were looking for an alternate source, and maybe just the ability to order them online.
Cheers.

do you have a link to the catalog of parts that your numbers are referencing?  I'm assuming the company is "Phoenix" but is that a branding of a bigger co. or a generic name like "kleenex"  Some manufacturers call them "euroblock" which leads me to wonder if it's a standard that many connector companies follow and not just the "Phoenix" co.

Also add Ashly and QSC to the list if anyone has that info :-)
