Noisy GL3800
« on: November 01, 2010, 08:46:02 AM »

We installed an A&H GL3800 about four years ago and have been very pleased with the board.  About 4 months ago we started having intermittent static noise in the system.  At first I thought it was due to an aging amp, but eventually caught it acting up and was able to determine that the noise is evident at the mixer-and apparantly affects every bus or place I can monitor with headphones on the mixer.  Nothing has changed with the electrical (though I am going to do some improvements on the grounding in the very near future.)  Is there a common failure on these mixers or known issues with power supplies that anyone is aware of?

Steve...

Have you tried removing the input cables one at a time and/or all of them to see if the noise is associated with something outside the desk or interior?

Also, have you contacted A & H?  They should respond to your question(s).
