Graphic eqs put the low and high roll-offs in for you whether you want them or not. However, they might put them in at frequencies that are too high or too low for your application.

The smiley face eq is a cliche, but its a cliche that seems to be relevant from time to ime.

My main sound system is set up with some roll-off at the top and the bottom because very little that I handle can benefit from the full response of the whole system. Actually, true wide band ho-fi response is bad for them, and they for it.

That means that if I have some clean wide-band program material that I want to exploit, I may hove to put in some smile.
