Behringer Europower EPQ2000 Power Amplifier
« on: April 21, 2011, 09:27:36 AM »

Does anyone have any experience with these amps?
Do you know if it is reliable?
How is the sound?
Is it noisy?
How do the the other features on it perform?

I have several EP2500s. I understand that these are QSC clones. I have driven mine hard for several years without any issues. They are clean, quiet, reliable and powerful. The model you are considering was labeled EP1500 up until 2 years ago when they changed only the labeling, not the actual amp. The EP2500 was similarly re-labeled to EP4000 but is still the same amp with the same output as the EP2500. I have seen some threads here and elsewhere about problems with these models that occurred from new product initial startup, but the solutions were quick and easy; send it back and they send you a new one. I believe Behringer has fixed the glitches now so the incidence of failure is even less than before.

Also, I cant find the thread, but somewhere on the interweb, somebody tested several amplifier's output verses their rated power. Behringer did surprisingly well compared to several more established brands.

Not true. The new version of the EP1500 is the EP2000.

The OP is talking about the EPQ2000, which is a lightweight switch mode design.

Behringer hardware, especially the amplifiers are very popular in the towns of Glouchester, New Bedford, and around Cape Cod. They make great anchors.

I have not used that particular model.

The ones I have used were better than no power amp at all.

Looks and has the same specs as the EPX2000... I have set up a couple systems that had them and after about a year there have been no complaints from the owners (a couple of DJ/KJ types)... they seem very happy with them...

From my point of view? well, light but not stupid light...build quality was ~ok, power was bridged mono on a pair of front loaded 15" subs, and it was fine...

As usual, with Behringer the question is longevity.
