CD Play with A&H GL2800
« on: April 07, 2010, 06:26:53 PM »

hi,

i'm using the tascam cd-a500 (tape/cd deck) unit to play cd's via the a&h gl2800. (this is difficult to explain, so please bear with me.)

attached is a screen shot from pg.5 of the tascam manual to show you the rca out's.

i have the tape-play (cd-a500) running into "ST in-3" (stereo return in #3) and the cd-play (cd-a500) running into channel 16 (2nd stereo channel on board).

simplified:
cd-a500 tape out ===> gl2800 ST in-3
cd-a500 "cd/line out" ===> gl2800 ch.16

however, both ch.16 fader along with ST in-3 fader control volume for the cd.

why?

thanks

The CD-a500 is discontinued but here's the spec listing.  Please note the second and third lines.  1 set RCA's is common to both the CD and Cassette while the CD has a dedicated out as well on a second set of RCA's.  You can't play a tape and a CD at the same time and separately control their signals.

Integrated CD Player/Reversible Cassette Deck
RCA unbalanced outputs common for both cassette deck and CD player
RCA unbalanced outputs dedicated to the CD player
