Sennheiser G3 wireless series
« on: May 29, 2009, 11:54:44 PM »

I'm curious about the new Sennheiser G3 wireless microphones.  We have 19 G1 and G2 units, nearly all of which are in the 700MHz band, so we're looking at replacing them in the very near future.

We noticed the last time around that the G2 receivers can't use the same rack ears as the G1 receivers; I'm wondering if the G3 receivers will be compatible with the G2 receivers.

We use the 100 series, and we'll be moving to the G3 100 series, so if they're not compatible we'll have to buy them separately.  Again.

Can anyone weigh in?

We just installed G3 IEM's and no, the ears do not match the G2 or G1's. Another case of either product evolving or planned obsolesence...

And note that to take advanatage of the trade in rebate you must purchase/receive by December first and return the old units and paperwork along with new UPC bar codes to Sennheiser by December 15 to be received no later than December 31.

The clock is ticking...

The Shure rebate program requires purchase by December 31 and return by January 31, 2010.

Audio Technica and Electro-Voice trade in programs have expired.
