Camcorder - Wireless Lav Question
« on: July 27, 2009, 05:09:17 PM »

Need suggestions on what to buy to have a wireless set-up for our camcorder that is used for filming announcements.  We have been using the camera microphone but want to use a wireless set-up to get better voice clarity.

Does it have to be wireless? We use hardwired lapels and ENG mics for a lot announcement type videos. Also, I guess I should backup and ask what camera are you using? Does it have XLR inputs?

Usually for churches with small budgets, I recommend Sennheiser EW 100 series ENG. Wired lapel mics, I go with Sony ECM-88. ENG style mic, I go with Electrovoice RE50. Hope that helps.

Building on Tony's response, Beachtek and several other manufacturers make interface boxes that enable consumer and semi-pro camcorder users to receive mic- and line-level balanced audio from a sound system. Additionally, the interface boxes have isolation transformers and a Ground Lift switch that bucks ground-loop (hum) issues.
