flickering caused by fluorescent dimmers?
« on: April 30, 2009, 12:15:09 AM »

I have some flickering issues with the video output from our church camera. The flickering is way worst on the preview monitor, but on the program monitor which is parallel to the projectors, the flickering is still there but not as bad as the monitors...

i got a video shot from my phone's camera

FYI,
video flow is:
camera->kramer 711n->kramer 712n->mixer->video splitter-> projectors.

camera is a sony VX-2100.
mixer/switcher is a cheap but reliable sima sfx10
splitter is a kramer vm51
projectors are mitsubishi wl2650u
preview monitor is datavideo TLM-404
program monitor is JVC 17" LCD.
DVD recorder is a sony.
Cat5 baluns, kramer 711n & 712n for cameras, kramer 709 & 710 for the projectors

Tried:
- changing the input by using S-video cables. Result is a clean free video.
- got 2 pairs of these kramers (711n and 712n), changing to another pair still give the same issues.

the setup is like this:

note: I tried shut down the red fluorescent to try isolate the problem, but still getting the same results.

ps.. uh.. I hope you guys understand my english..

another thing, all the AV systems are connected to the same circuit that's came from the ground isolated transformer. The lighting systems are not.

please shed me more light to solve this problem..

Christy
It's difficult to understand the problem over the web, but I'll give it a shot. First, in your shoes I would eliminate any lighting in the control room that has a ballast - no flourescent lights - just incandesent or LED lights.

Second, try swapping monitors by moving cables to other monitors and determine if the problem issue "travels" with the cable.

Also, try plugging the camera cable into just the monitor and see if the issue is there. If not, then add a component one at a time see if the problem arises.

Strongly consider seperating the components. High frequency circuits can "bleed" into adjacent components, creating problem issues.

Let us know if you discover the problem source and what your solution is.
