I was wondering if there was a product out there that converts composite video and mono audio to go over fiber. I found the kramer 611T & 611R but they only have one channel. We are planning a video feed run of about 300ft from our sound board to our youth room to use as overflow. I thought about coax and boosters but I figured fiber would yield better quality.

I would look at video over UTP cable (Cat-5) much cheaper and you can find plenty of transmitters that will do 300'

the signal from these CAT5 adapters cannot travel through network hubs can they?? If they could, it would make my life A LOT simpler.

You can get that technology, but not only is it relatively expensive, but it also brings up latency questions of its own. Furthermore, unless you are sending uncompressed SDI ($$$$$$$$$$$) you will also have compression and codec artifacts to contend with.

Sometimes this is still the right answer, but not when cable is even remotely possible to run.

ohok, i didnt even know that it could be done. I guess we'll jus have to spend a saterday and run a new cable. I was looking at the kramer 711N and 712N adapters.
