We have a DVD player hooked up to our sound system, it is also hooked up to a projector. As soon as the projector gets hooked up there is a hum that drowns out the audio. It happens on all types of connections to the projector. Is there a way to filter this. Please contact me if I failed to describe my problem well enough.

This is a classic ground loop. Were I in your place, I'd pick up a Radio Shack ground isolator:

If you don't want to do that, try using a direct box.

The classic response is to insert a  direct box with RCA input jacks between the DVD player and mixing console.

A second solution is to isolate the power of the DVD player from all other power with an AC isolation transformer.
