HearBack Monitor system interfaced to an M7CL
« on: November 25, 2007, 10:07:50 PM »

Need a little interface help here. Yamaha My card with 25pin cable between hub & console; Cat Ve to hub onstage with 8 individual mixers. Cannot get my slot assigns to output to my hub. Anyone else having this problem? We have 2 more church installs coming up with this same setup. Thanks-in-advance. John

Have you  checked to see if you have signal at the end of the cable?

You could plug the output of the cable to inputs on the console to meter things.

Yeah I know, the OUTPUTS from the console go to the INPUTS of the Hearback system.

Am I missing something?

Are you sure the DB25 cable between your MY8-DA card and your Hear Back hub is wired correctly? There should be 8 shielded twisted pairs in the cable. The pairs, with shield, +, and - are pinned in the DB25 as follows, ch1) pins 25, 24, 12, ch2) 11, 10, 23, ch3) 22, 21, 9, ch4) 8, 7, 20, ch5) 19, 18, 6, ch6) 5, 4, 17, ch7) 16, 15, 3, ch8) 2, 1, 14. The pinouts on the Yamaha card and the Hear Back hub are the same. Lacking a breakout cable that brings the DB25 out as XLRs, you can use probes to listen for audio on the appropriate pins. Are you sure you have patched the channels you want to the correct slot outs?

Mac, Thanks for the reply,The pinout info is MUCH appreciated! Last nite, I found that the church engineer had patched LR, & 6 individual channels to a DCA instead of Slot 1; After changing the patch, it all worked great! Thanks a heap; Johnny Bailey
