"Church Sound Secrets"
« on: June 04, 2007, 12:47:42 AM »

Has anyone used the "Church Sound Secrets" video series from www.churchsoundsecrets.com? Or do you know about the young man who produced it? I'm trying to decide on training materials for our church.

we've used it before!
i like it!
We developed our own program now.
but when i first started "teching" I read the Yamaha Sound reinforcement manual like it was the last thing on earth..
It was a challenge getting thru but Ill never regret doing it!
Then I paid for some classes and took exams and tests here and there..and now im here throwing cables at the guy who keeps doseing off while we patch the systme.. Rolling Eyes

The best book I found for teaching the basics of sound systems to church sound crews, and even college tech theater classes, is the free Shure publication "Audio Systems Guide for Houses of Worship." It covers the basics of sound systems, and basic microphone techniques. Dealing with the talent, or lack of, is not covered in this book.

You can get a printed version from Shure, and should be able to get a stack of them for the whole class.

http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Downloads/LiteratureRequest/in dex.htm

You can download a PDF version and just print the pages you need.

The Yamaha book is great but has too much physics for folks who are new to sound.
