black screen
« on: April 03, 2007, 02:13:58 PM »

Hey everyone,

I've got our easter production coming up on Fri, Sat, Sun. It includes two video sequences. Right now the screen is onstage and is removed to see a set behind it. However, when it goes to black screen you can still see it shining on the set. This is a problem because there are a number of blackouts and you can see it shining.

Does anyone know of a remote control devise to block the light from shining? there is no way to just put a flap over it. The projector is hung 13 feet in the air.

Mechanical projector douser

Something like this - http://www.response-box.com/flapper.shtml

Or this - http://www.bakerwood.com/index.html

I saw a nice and simple one once but I can’t find a link to it now.

Some of the bigger Sanyo projectors come with this feature built into it.

If you are creative you might be able to build a flap that can be dropped into place remotely.
