Yamaha CM15V woofer
« on: April 12, 2011, 01:26:52 pm »

I removed this woofer from the cabinet and put the meter on it to see if there was anything weird about it.

The woofer measured at 5.9ohm like a fully working woofer in another cabinet but it sounds like there is some obstruction keeping the mechanics from moving or something.

It buzzes at all frequencies instead of giving a round tone when I put more than a couple volts into it.

I'm gonna replace it and get the bad one reconed as a spare.

BUT...I called Yamaha just now and spoke with some lady in the parts department. She spent about 10 minutes telling me what she couldn't do for me instead of offering any solution at all since she says she "just" works in the parts department. I didn't even get to the part where I asked if I can just buy a woofer.

At the end of the conversation I thought it very odd that she would even mention that she tried to help. The phone call was even monitored for quality? Ok...
