Monitor Send Cable Gauge
« on: November 23, 2006, 01:27:24 AM »

We are contemplating running another monitor send from the FOH mixer back to the stage to better facilitate separate monitor mixes for various musicians and vocalists.  However, we would need to run another cable, approx. 100'.  This would run adjacent to the existing snake cable.

What gauge would be desired?  Would we want to use the Belden 8412 20 gauge standard?  Would 22ga work?  How about 24ga?

Thanks

Assunming you are talking line level and not speaker level 22 or 24 ga would be fine.  You will not have any losses to be concerned with.

Just make sure that both the send and amp input are balanced.

Thanks Ivan.  Yeah, it will be a balanced line level signal from mixer to a balanced input on the amp.

Thanks again, you guys on this board are great. Smile
